Welcome to the LPA Swim Team
Family
We
are very happy that you have decided to join our swim team family. We hope you
find the following information helpful in getting acquainted with our
program.
Practice/Meet
Attire:
Your
child will need a suit (1 piece for females, and shorts or speedo for males),
goggles, towel, water bottle or drink, and a cap if their hair is longer than
their ears. Goggles and caps (if the hair is longer than the ears) are required
for proper stroke technique. We will
have a swim suit company come to our pool sometime in May, at which time you
can purchase any of your swimming equipment needs. You will also be able to try
on and order a team suit for the season.
Check the Team Apparel link for more info.
Other
options for purchasing your swimming needs are online companies (eg. www.swimzone.com, www.sportwide.com, www.aardvarkswim.com), Sports
Authority, Walmart, and Hibbets in the mall.
LPA
will be providing each swimmer with a team cap and t-shirt.

Meet
information:
LPA
participates in several meets throughout the summer; the schedule is located on
the home page. We participate in 2
different types of meets. The first type
of meet is a dual or tri meet and held within Highlands County. This meet
is a ˝ day meet, held on a Saturday, against one or two other teams. There are no meet fees associated with the dual or tri meets.
The
other meets scheduled are USS meets.
These meets are held out of town and against multiple teams. They are
usually 3
day meets (Friday evening, Sat. and Sun.) and do require meet fees. There is normally a $7 facility use fee per
swimmer and $2.50 fee per event. Each
swimmer can choose what they want to swim.
If your swimmer only wants to participate on Sat., then they have the
option to choose from the events offered on Sat. Depending on your child’s age and the set up
of the meet, they will either swim in the morning (finishing around 1 or
earlier) or they will swim in the afternoon (starting usually around
